Palm oil is a vegetable oil that is extracted mainly from the fruit of the oil palm. This oil contains a high percentage of saturated fats and antioxidants. Palm oil is used in margarine, deep-frying oil, chips and biscuits. It is also a base material for the production of soap.

Palm oil comes from south-east Asia.

Colour and flavour
Palm oil is white and solid. It becomes liquid when heated. The smell and flavour are entirely neutral.

Application
Palm oil can be used for the production of various foodstuffs, such as ice-cream, margarine and biscuits. It is also a good ingredient in products such as lipstick, soap and biodiesel, and perfect for deep-frying food.
